Solitude

"Like water, which can clearly mirror the sky and the trees only so
long as its surface is undisturbed, the mind can only reflect the
true image of the Self when it is tranquil and wholly relaxed."
- Indra Devi

Solitude is something vital that we require in order for us to grow and expand our consciousness, one of the best ways to connect on a deeper level is spending some time by yourself in quiet with no distractions, this will enable you to connect with nature and your inner voice.
Some people tend to have a resistance to this kind of experience because of the non control of noise that goes on in their heads, the thoughts and conversations affects their focus of attention.

Solitude is a practise that is recommended for everyone and although you may not want to do it the more you do it the more you will grow, this is the when you don't want to do it is the best time to do it.

Solitude is not about trying to fight off your thoughts or putting up any kind of wall to guard you from intrusion an negative thoughts. This is solitude that when chosen purposely to step into the silence yourself will help you grow and deepen in more ways than one and it is not about escaping, it is about stepping into something inviting.

Sometimes I'll go away by myself just to spend quiet time with no distractions, so if this topic makes you feel slightly uncomfortable then start practising just 15 mins at a time slowly and build up to 1 hour, once youve achieved that find time to do this for a few hours it is recommended that we spend overnight by ourselves. There are many retreat centres that offer this kind of experience in groups, that might make you feel better or you can go away by yourself.

However you orchestrate your solitude, don't take anything but a
journal to write in. No books to read, music to play or movies to
watch.  Walking in nature is recommended.  It is best to talk or
text others as little as possible.  In this fast-paced world our
nervous systems can easily be overloaded and even though your
Personality Type might crave stimulus, your body and nervous system
crave quiet and solitude.  Try it and see what pearls of wisdom and
benefits you gain.

"I was always looking outside myself for strength and confidence,
but it comes from within. It is there all the time."

- Anna Freud
