Where is my experience coming from

I'm Nasir Brown, a multifaceted soul on a quest to ignite transformation. By day, I step into the role of an ABA Therapist, unraveling the mysteries of behavior. Yet, beyond the clinic's walls, I wear many hats — a muse-driven musician, a poet weaving words, and who knows what other passions lie dormant, waiting to unfurl in the tapestry of my life.

My fervor lies in sculpting value, in shepherding individuals towards their own evolution. In the realm of Autism, I am a weaver of applied behavior analysis, melding science with the art of understanding. I dance on the edge of comprehension, delving into the ephemeral terrain of thoughts as they spark from moment to moment.

While not presently immersed in the study of Clarity coaching by Jamie Smarte, I am entrenched in its community, extending the hand of change to untangle three fundamental misconceptions:

  1. The enigma of one's true self.
  2. The genesis of emotions and experiences.
  3. The purpose coursing through one's veins.

Allow me to transport you to a session with a 10-year-old dynamo, fiercely navigating the spectrum. This young spirit, though deemed 'severely functioning,' wields language with a prowess that defies expectations.

As I stepped into this young savant's world for the second time, our rapport blossomed into eager anticipation. Laughter and playfulness danced on the threshold of our morning. Then came the decisive moment, as laptop and demand beckoned. The child, however, chose a different path – rising, hands in rhythmic applause, lost in his own world. A symphony of well-intentioned voices sought to mold his behavior.

Autism, like a riddle, requires delicate deciphering. Antecedents hold the key, shaping our response, our consequence. To extinguish undesirable behavior, we often choose silence, letting the Sd stimulus be our guide.

Yet, here I stood, a spectator to a discourse stretching on for minutes on end. Each word, unwittingly, fortified the evasion. Not every child is a replica, but often, less is more. With a trained eye, I observed, my ABA instincts tingling.

Then, a pivotal question, whispered by the child's parent, cut through the chaos: "Johnny, can you share the genesis of this dance?" The answer was a slow, erratic ballet on his iPad, a language uniquely his own. I intervened, gently curbing his hand's symphony of claps.

Each interruption, a shift from claps to bites, marked by scars etched in flesh. Frustration coursed through me, until a revelation struck like lightning: where do my feelings truly stem from? Suddenly, annoyance yielded to clarity. A high-five bridged the chasm, a conduit to purpose. With each stimulatory surge, we mirrored, until the dance waned, and words flowed freely.

In those moments, I glimpsed the essence of thought, the fluid currents of feeling. Contaminated thoughts gave way to a serenity that unlocked the path to progress. Autism minus agitation, plus clarity, equals transformation.

With unwavering dedication to your journey,
